Role Of Science In Building A Better World

The 21st Century will confront many challenges, arising from resources scarcity, climate change, natural disasters, emerging diseases, terrorism and other yet to be recognized causes. These challenges are global and do not respect political boundaries. Wealthy nations cannot avoid the impacts of climate change or disease epidemics or other resources stresses that may have sources elsewhere in the world. International cooperation aimed at mitigating these challenges is thus in the self interest of all nations. Moreover, implementing effective solutions to these global challenges require local science capabilities and awareness among people in every country so that local decision makers can access and utilize knowledge resources.
Youths can play leading role in the field of science and technology. The proper use of science and technology is needed for realizing a more equitable prosperous and sustainable world for all. Science has brought many benefits to the humanity while some application of science have had adverse impacts on humanity. The world has already witnessed the bad impact of Science during the 1st and 2nd world war. Today mass destruction weapons and superiority to one nation to the other and terrorism has made human life unsafe. We should fight against these evils. Nuclear technology should be used for peaceful purposes only. Millions of people in the world are dying without food, water, electricity, diseases and without medical help. Climate change is the most challenging issue in the world today. We have ruined the eco-system with our own deeds i.e. use of old technology, pollution, unwise use of natural resources are the major reasons for it. The old technology should be replaced with new technology, avoid wastage and maximum and proper utilization of the natural resources is the need of the hour. Information Technology, Space Technology, Food technology, Nano technology, Computers and robotics and advancement in Medical Science and other fields has brought a revolution in the world. People should develop such ideas/ innovations which are useful in our day to day life which should safeguard our resources and eco system. Youths are the ambassadors of tomorrow. It is the prime duty of our school, colleges, universities, and Govt. should play a positive role to educate and motivate youths and encourage innovation and develop scientific bent of mind in students to tackle global issues.
World is facing the threat of natural disasters. Every one should have some training especially the youths should learn disaster management and learn scientific techniques to fight this challenge. Each youth should undertake a project of his/her interest in the field of science and technology and should give innovative ideas to make the world a better place to live in. This essay will definitely have a positive impact on people and motivate them be more creative and innovative in their fields and collectively we can bring prosperity and peace in the world and Science will make our life easier and happier. .
